The Classic BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato)
The Classic BLT is a timeless sandwich that combines the simplicity of crisp bacon, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomatoes between two slices of toasted bread. This iconic sandwich is beloved for its perfect balance of flavors and textures, making it a satisfying choice for any meal of the day.
- 8 slices of thick-cut bacon
- 4 lettuce leaves such as iceberg or romaine
- 2 large ripe tomatoes sliced
- 4 slices of your favorite bread such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough
- Mayonnaise to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until they are crispy and browned to your liking. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Toast the Bread: While the bacon is cooking, toast the bread slices until golden brown and crispy.
Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each toasted bread slice. Place a lettuce leaf on two slices of bread, followed by a layer of sliced tomatoes. Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add the Bacon: Divide the cooked bacon slices evenly between the two sandwiches, placing them on top of the tomatoes.
Complete the Sandwiches: Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down, to form two BLT sandwiches.
Slice and Serve: Use a sharp knife to slice each sandwich in half diagonally. Serve immediately while the bread is still warm and the bacon is crispy.
