Ingredients

Instructions
- In a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes per batch. Remove the browned beef from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper, and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Return the browned beef to the pot, along with any juices that have accumulated. Add the diced tomatoes (with their juices), beef broth, tomato paste, and brown sugar to the pot, and stir to combine.
- Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let the chili simmer gently for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.
- Taste the chili and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve the Texas Chili hot, garnished with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapenos, chopped cilantro, and diced onions.
